About the Author of these Web-pages

Name of Author: Donald Roark

Description by his wife, Virginia, who knows him best, says that,
"Donald is:
1) An avid college football fan.
2) A computer hobbyist - especially, the internet variety.
3) A Real Estate Affiliate Broker in Tennessee."
However, his wife is quick to point out and emphasize that,
"Donald is, first of all:
4) A loving, Christian husband.
5) A caring and devoted human being to Family, Friends and other people."

Donald grew up in Carroll County, TN., - in and around Huntingdon - until he went into the U.S. Navy in 1955. His Dad, William F. Roark, was a farmer who share-cropped ... so ... his Family moved around from one community to another - quite often.

When Donald was born on June 19, 1935, Donald's Family lived two miles out from Huntingdon on Hwy. 70A; then moved to Barnett Lane inside the City limits; then finally to the Leech Community).

These moves were all made during the time Donald was in elementary school. Donald attended Spring Hill Elementary School and McLemoreville Elementary School during his 1st Grade, then tranferred to Huntingdon as a Second Grader. During his Third Grade, his Family moved to the Leech Community so Donald transferred to Pleasant Hill Elementary School in the Leech Community.

In 1947, Donald transferred again ... returning to the Huntingdon Elementary School. There (in the Huntingdon school system) he was allowed to remain and he feels privileged to have attended high school at Huntingdon High. He graduated in 1953 from HHS.

Donald also feels quite privileged to be a 1962 graduate of the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, with a BS degree in mathematics.

After teaching high school mathematics for four years (and selling real estate - part-time), Donald, Virginia, Angie and Donald, Jr. moved to Milan, TN. This was in 1965.

Donald moved to Milan after having become employed as a Technical Engineer for Martin Marietta at the Milan Army Ammnunition Plant. After a year and a half (at the Arsenal), then Donald became employed in 1997 by Foamex International (Corry Foam - at that time, then later Firestone Foam).

Donald took early retirement from Foamex International in 1998, where he had worked for approximately 30 years as an Industrial Engineer/Computer Programmer/Systems Administrator.

Well, ol' Donald got bored with early retirement although he continued his work with computers, which he had done while at Foamex. So, now he has become involved (again) with real estate.

Donald obtained his Real Estate License once again and sold real estate - part-time - just as he had done in the 1960's, as mentioned earlier in this article.

Donald is involved in a gospel group called "Gospel Crossroads" and teaches two class of college algebra at Dyersburg State Community College at their Trenton, Tn, campus.

He also designs web pages, as can be seen at HHS Class of 1953, Roark Web Site and this one that you are probably linked to here called http://www.heartnmemphis.com/EyeoftheTiger/.
